New Model Release - John Deere 7760 Cotton Picker

This is 1 of 2 new cotton pickers that Ertl released in the fall of 2008. I finally picked up both of these models so I can review and compare them. The 7760 Features cab glass, dual front wheels, and an opening rear door with a large bail of cotton. Overall the detail of the 7760 is excellent. The large rear cotton bin in the back has very minute details and the working parts are very nice. The most impressive feature of this model is its size. It is even longer and taller than the previous cotton picker from John Deere. The only problem with this model is that same problem that the Case Picker has: It is almost completely made of plastic. The chassis and the main part of the harvesting head are metal but the bin, cab, and most of the detail parts are plastic. I think this is the direction that 1/64th toys are headed, considering the increasing price of metal and the demand for higher detail. It is just something that will take a while for collectors to get used to. I have seen this model for around $20 st many stores, and I think that's a great price for the level of detail.
